Roles and Permissions
Learn about the different types of Smart Compensation user roles and their permissions.
There are three types of Smart Compensation users who can manage the workflow of an annual merit cycle or one-time market pay adjustment cycle, from setting the budget to communicating pay changes to employees:
- Admin
- Manager
- Support
Each user type has different permissions and functions tailored to their responsibilities in managing the compensation workflow within the Smart Compensation application.
Access profile permissions
This sections defines what each profile allows the user to do.
Admin User
This user has the ability to create and manage cycles, they can:
- Create pay cycles.
- View, edit, and share the pay cycles they have access to.
- Create and assign tasks to managers.
- Add collaborators.
Manager User
This user can be assigned tasks within their hierarchy and can complete those tasks, they can:
- View and edit the tasks they are assigned to.
- If the assigned task has child tasks, they have full rights (view and edit) within those child tasks.
- They will not be able to see holdback budget.
- Submit a finished task to admins or managers above them for review.
Support User
This user can be added to tasks by admins to support the manager assigned to the task. They have the same rights as manager users on their assigned tasks. Support users can be assigned to any task, but manager users can only be assigned tasks within their hierarchy.
