Fall 2020 Release Notes

Discover the new features, improvements, and bug fixes that were included in this release.

Platform

This section covers the changes to the platform.

What's new

  • Visual download: You can now export individual visualizations as an image or Microsoft PowerPoint slide.
  • Bulk visual download: You can now export the visuals contained in an analysis as a Microsoft PowerPoint file.

  • Improvements to the full screen experience: We've made changes to the full screen visualization experience to give authors more room to write detailed chart descriptions and to make the guidance and visualization help content more visible. When viewing a visualization in full screen (e.g., selecting a chart card in an analysis), you'll now find the chart description provided by the content author in the Info panel as well as descriptions for the metrics, group by attribute, and visual that have been selected in the chart title. As part of these improvements, we've divided the Info panel into two tabs: About and Insights. The About tab provides supporting information that will help you understand what that you're seeing in the visualization and the Insights tab provides a high level summary of the data.
  • Improvements to chart legends: When authoring and viewing analyses, you'll notice that chart legends now appear on any sized chart card that uses the Display as visual setting.
  • More sorting options for grouped stacked bars in a Breakdown visual: You can now change the sort order of the secondary grouping of a stacked bar or 100% stacked bar chart.
  • Change how a metric is computed on the fly: Parameterized metrics are metrics that use dynamic values (parameters) in their formulas. Before you visualize these metrics, you can change the parameter values to change how the metric is computed.
  • Filter with custom ranges: You can now create ad hoc custom ranges for numeric attributes. When you select a numeric attribute in the Filter picker, such as Absence Days Range, Base Pay, and Compa Ratio, you'll now be able to enter a custom range to analyze.

Note: Contact Visier Technical Support to configure this feature for additional numeric attributes.

  • Module awareness: We've changed the accessibility of objects contained in an enabled module (Visier People Organization, Visier People Talent Acquisition, etc.) to provide a simpler and complete administrator experience. With this release, administrators will have access to all objects in a licensed and enabled module.
  • Show/Hide the virtual assistant for all users: Administrators can now control the visibility of the virtual assistant across a tenant.

Bug fixes

  • 33167 - Data access to compensation dimensions: We fixed an issue where dimensions related to employee compensation (e.g., Direct Compensation and Variable Pay) could be selected as a group by even though users did not have access to compensation data. No values were ever displayed for these dimensions as all employees were grouped in the 0 to 25K bucket.
  • 33623 - Data access to compensation properties: We fixed an issue where properties related to employee compensation (e.g., Direct Compensation and Variable Pay) appeared in View Details even though users did not have access to compensation data. No values were ever displayed for these properties. Users only saw the property names in View Details.
  • 40517 - Reassign content: You can now reassign content from user accounts that have been deleted.
  • 41953 - Data labels in full analysis download as Powerpoint: When downloading a full analysis as PowerPoint (PPT), you may have noticed that some data labels were missing from the Breakdown visuals. We've fixed this issue by lowering the minimum font size.
  • 44327 - Miscategorized metrics in Filter picker: When navigating the Filter picker, you may have noticed that non-trailing metrics were appearing under trailing twelve month metrics. We've fixed this issue and the metrics are back where they belong.
  • 44690 - Default filters in a Data Connector: Default filters will no longer be automatically reapplied when they've been removed from a Data Connector.
  • 48555 - Dimension names displayed in the History visual: Changes to the display name of a dimension will now be reflected in the History visual.
  • 53565 - Summary value not updating: When looking at comparisons, some users reported that the summary value remained the same as they drilled down into the chart. We've fixed this issue and the summary value will update based on the level that you've drilled down to.
  • 55943 - Update to latest complete time period setting for Data Connectors: Data Connectors will now update to the latest complete time period when the option is selected.
  • 55976 - Currency conversion for proportion metrics: Proportion metrics will now display the correct value regardless of the display currency that is selected.
  • 56077 - Chart axis labels: When viewing a Breakdown visual in side by side view, you may have noticed that the axis labels were expressed in decimals. We've fixed this issue and the labels now appear as percentages.
  • 57987 - User details: When viewing user details, you can now see a list of the user groups that they belong to.
  • 58788 - What-if scenario options in an analysis: When viewing an analysis containing a What-if model, you may have noticed a couple of scenario options that were disabled. To avoid confusion, we've removed these options from the overflow menu.
  • 58944 - The Users List: We fixed an issue where some employee IDs were missing from the Users List.
  • 59075 - View Details and unsupported properties: When looking at View Details, you may have received the Unable to show the visual error message. This was caused by unsupported properties being added to View Details. We've removed these properties from the configuration list so you can no longer select them to appear in View Details.
  • 59121 - Data Connectors shows data for incomplete periods: We fixed an issue where some Data Connectors displayed data for incomplete time periods when the Update to latest complete time period was selected.
  • 59241 - Summary values for Budgeted Compensation metrics: We fixed an issue that caused incorrect summary values for Budgeted Compensation metrics. This issue only occurred in Breakdown visuals and affected the summary values for the time period of February 2019.
  • 59248 - Welcome email settings for single sign-on: If your organization uses single sign-on, you can now choose whether or not a welcome email is sent to new users when uploading a Users List.
  • 59839 - Renaming dimensions: Changing the display name of a dimension would sometimes cause a change in the dimension's data type. We've fixed this issue and the data type of a dimension will no longer change after it has been renamed.
  • 60024 - Direct manager properties in View Details: You can now add Direct Manager properties in View Details.
  • 64547 - Duplicate metrics in a Table visual: We fixed an issue with the Table visual where duplicate metrics would appear when a rate metric was added alongside its trailing twelve month variant.

Visier People

This section covers the changes to the content of the Visier People solution.

    • Original Hire Date (Employee)
    • Performance Start Date (Employee)
    • Performance End Date (Employee)
    • Performance Next Evaluation Date (Employee)
    • Tenure Start Date (Employee)
    • Union Seniority Date (Employee)
    • Approved Date (Requisition)
    • Created Date (Requisition)
    • Required Start Date (Requisition)
    • Applied Date (Applicant)
    • Creation Date (Learning Activity)
    • Required Completion Date (Learning Activity)
  • Descriptions of What-if assumptions: We've added the default assumption values to the descriptions of the assumptions.

Organization

What's new

  • External Unemployment and Personal Mobility Index data: We've added new external benchmark data.
    • We've replaced the Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) dataset with a new dataset that includes statistics for additional countries. Use the Unemployment Rate and Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment metrics to see unemployment statistics for the US, Canada, UK, Germany, and Australia. To learn more about these metrics, check out the analysis named Learn About Unemployment Metrics.
    • We've added the Personal Mobility Index dataset that allows you to assess the degree of COVID-19 related lockdown restrictions in the cities where you operate. New metrics include Personal Mobility Index - Driving and Personal Mobility Index - Walking.
    • As part of this update, we've renamed the following dimensions:
      • COVID-19 Location to Visier Standard Location. This dimension is the location hierarchy of the external data.
      • COVID-19 Location Comparison to Visier Standard Location Comparison. This dimension links your organization's location and the standard Visier locations.
  • Position Management: We've added new Position Management metrics and an analysis named Position Management - Validation to help you validate your data. An additional reference to the Employee subject was added to allow for a position to represent two employees during an overlap period.
  • Furlough metrics: We've added two new furlough metrics: Furloughed in Period and Furloughs Returned in Period. Use these metrics to determine if the discrepancies you see in the Movement Summary and Movement Breakdown visuals are due to changes in an employee's furlough status.

Improvements

  • Display name change: We've renamed Position metrics and dimensions so it's easier to determine the type of position that is being analyzed (position management versus targeted positions for hiring). The display name for objects that look at position management will contain the words "Managed Position" while the display name for objects that look at targeted positions for hiring will contain the word "Requisition".

Bug fixes

  • 56720 - Span of Control Range concept documentation: We've updated the description of the Span of Control Range concept to clarify that it represents the number of direct reports for each employee who is a manager.
  • 58289 - Employment Status dimension documentation: We've fixed the description of the Employment Status dimension as it was incorrectly describing Employment Type.
  • 58814 - Compa Ratio metric documentation: We've updated the explanation of the Compa Ratio metric to remove all references to direct compensation as the calculation actually uses base pay.
  • 59731 - Reporting Level property: When downloading data as an XLSX file, you'll notice that values for the Reporting Level property will now appear as a whole number instead of an integer rounded to two decimal places.

Learning

What's new

  • Parameterized metrics: When working with parameterized metrics, you can change how the metric is computed, on the fly, by changing the parameter value. Note that any metrics that are dependent on these metrics will also be parameterized.
    • We've parameterized the Learning Completions and Employee Participation Ratio metrics. For these metrics, you can the select the learning activity attributes you want to analyze.
    • We've added the Average Time Between Learning Stages metric which measures the amount of time, in days, it takes a learning activity to move between learning stages. For this metric, you can select the starting stage and ending stage.
  • Scheduled Learning concept: This concept indicates learning activities that are part of a bigger program and go through stages from their conception to end. Think of Scheduled Learning as formal training.

Improvements

  • Display name change: Learning Participant metrics have been renamed to Learning Activities because these metrics count the number of learning activities, not the number of participants for a learning item.

Planning

What's new

  • Engage more users in the planning process with the Plan Contributor capability: We have added a new analytic capability that provides users access to a subset of capabilities within Visier People Planning. Users who are assigned the Plan Contributor capability can provide data for a plan, edit the planned headcount, and submit plans for review.
  • Changes to the default cost model for plans: We've changed the default cost model that is used to generate projected values. By default, the projected values for a plan will now be calculated from the budgeted total cost of workforce instead of the actual total cost of workforce. We made this change because the budgeted data is more commonly loaded to the application and makes for a better planning experience for those who are new to the workforce planning process.
  • Redesigned Events Viewer: The Events Viewer shows detailed plan activity such as comments, modifications, and collaboration events to help you track changes and troubleshoot. We've improved the user experience to make it easier to read, filter, and find the events that are most important to you.

Bug fixes

  • 59004 - Long Term Incentive metric: We fixed an issue with the Long Term Incentive metric that prevented users from creating new scenarios.

Talent Acquisition

What's new

  • Movement model for Requisitions and Positions: We've added a new movement model that counts requisitions or positions. Use the Movement Breakdown visual to explore the count of requisitions or positions at the beginning of the period, at the end of the period, net change, and movement in the period by requisition reason.
  • Parameterized metrics: When working with parameterized metrics, you can change how the metric is computed, on the fly, by changing the parameter value. Note that any metrics that are dependent on these metrics will also be parameterized.
    • We've added the Average Time Between Applicant Stages metric which measures the amount of time, in days, it takes an applicant to move between applicant stages. For this metric, you can select the starting stage and ending stage.
    • We've added the Stagnant Applicant metric which counts the number of active applicants which have become stagnant at the end of the period. This metric has a numeric parameter that allows you to select the number of days that should be used to flag a stagnant applicant.
    • We've added the Stagnant Candidate metric which counts the number of candidates which have become stagnant at the end of the period. This metric has a numeric parameter that allows you to select the number of days that should be used to flag a stagnant candidate.
  • Last Date Modified property: We've added a Last Date Modified property on the Applicant subject to show the date the applicant was last modified.

  • Display name change: We've renamed the Hire Events metric to Applicant Hire Events to explicitly state that these hire events are related to the talent acquisition process involving applicants.
  • Evergeen Status dimension: The Evergreen Status dimension has been hidden because it duplicates the Evergreen concept.

Bug fixes

  • 52668 - Applicant Process metric labels: We've updated the labels for metrics in the Applicant Process that were mislabelled with Normal Process.
  • 53047 - Display names for Process concept properties: We've added proper display names for all Process concept properties.
  • 57781 - What-if model Headcount calculations: We've fixed the calculations affecting Headcount in the External Hires and Female Ratio What-if models to retain the correct Headcount. Any change in the Headcount value will now be rolled forward to the new Headcount period-over-period.
  • 57816 - Talent Acquisition content package: The Talent Acquisition data validation analysis has been added to the Talent Acquisition - all content content package.

Talent Essentials

What's new

  • Parameterized metrics: When working with parameterized metrics, you can change how the metric is computed, on the fly, by changing the parameter value. Note that any metrics that are dependent on these metrics will also be parameterized.
    • We've parameterized the Retirement Eligibility metric. For this metric, you can change the numeric value for the retirement age.

Improvements

  • Descriptions of Analytic Objects: We've added descriptions for the analytic objects in Talent Essentials.

Bug fixes

  • 52112 - Total Cost of Workforce documentation: We've fixed the diagrams within the Total Cost of Workforce model that displayed budgeted calculation details for actual per employee metrics.
  • 57187 - Cost of Replacement What-if model: We've fixed the order of the outputs in the Cost of Replacement model so that the Projected Retirement Rate - Entry level is now grouped with the rest of the Projected Retirement Rate levels.

Talent Expert

What's new

  • Employee Volunteering and Giving data model: We've added a new data model that tracks the amount of money and time employees give to charitable causes through the organization. After you onboard your volunteer data, use the Employee Volunteering and Giving metrics to look at the philanthropy performed by employees with the support of your organization.
  • Parameterized metrics: When working with parameterized metrics, you can change how the metric is computed, on the fly, by changing the parameter value. Note that any metrics that are dependent on these metrics will also be parameterized.
    • We've added the Headcount Ratio - Positive Overall Experience metric that allows you to see the percentage of employees with a positive sentiment about the overall work experience. For this metric, you can change the numeric value for the lowest survey response that is considered to be positive.
  • Employee Experience analyses: We've added new Employee Experience analyses to the Visier People guidebook. Check out the Monitor analysis to see the results of a single survey or the Learn analysis to find out how to use the Employee Experience metrics.

Improvements

  • Descriptions of Analytic Objects: We've added descriptions for the analytic objects in Talent Expert.

Bug fixes

  • 57856 - Survey Respondent Rate metric documentation: We've updated the calculation details of the Survey Respondent Rate metric to include the newly visible Survey Respondent Count in the numerator.
