Discover the new features, improvements, and bug fixes that were included in this release.

Platform

This section covers the changes to the platform.

What's new

Career Paths visual in Explore: You can now access the Career Paths visual in the Explore room. You can explore Career Paths by job name, job family, employee, and more. Note: The Fall 2022 release introduced Career Paths to the Explore room and updated terminology. Career Journey was renamed Career Paths and there is no longer a distinction between Potential Career Paths mode and Potential Career Path mode.

Distribution visual in Explore: You can now access the Distribution visual in the Explore room. This allows users to evaluate the distribution or shape of their data independently of a specific individual.

Key insights: When viewing a visual, you will now see insights generated by interesting data in the visual. Key insights are descriptions about the data, such as which department had the highest turnover rate.

Quick search: You can now search for an employee with the Ask Visier search panel in full screen.

Save a card in full screen edit mode: When editing a card in full screen mode in an analysis, you can now click Save and Close to save your changes.

Undo & redo (Compare): Quickly undo and redo actions that you make when working in the Compare room.

Attribute Sets: Users can now select predefined Attribute Sets in View Details, Compare room, the History visual, and Detailed Data Exports. Administrators can configure the Attribute Sets in the studio experience.

Export custom content directly: Administrators can now directly export custom content, such as an analysis or content package, while viewing that content.

Security enhancements (metrics within properties): Calculated properties that use the function metricValueLookup can enable Data Access Bypass. Data Access Bypass allows the calculated property to access the entire dataset, regardless of the data access granted to users for objects within the property’s formula. This creates consistency in the values that a user sees when they view the same data but have different data access levels than another user.

  • Configuration is required for this feature.

Suggested traffic lighting rules: Visier Certified Developers can now configure metrics to provide suggested traffic lighting rules to users. For example, if you want to suggest a bad traffic light if your Employee Ratio for Women decreases by more than 5%, you can configure Employee Ratio for Women to provide that suggestion to users.

  • Visier added suggested traffic lighting rules to the following metrics. Visier Certified Developers can change or remove these suggestions in the studio experience.
    • Headcount Ratio – High Performer
    • Minority Ratio in US
    • Promotion Events Rate
    • Resignation Rate
    • Turnover Rate
    • Turnover Annualized Rate
    • Involuntary Turnover Rate
    • Involuntary Turnover Annualized Rate
    • Voluntary Turnover Rate
    • Voluntary Turnover Annualized Rate

Enhancements for API users: We made the following improvements to API user workflows:

  • Allow access to the studio experience: Users with an API profile can now also be assigned profiles that provide access to the studio experience.
  • Restrict users to specific IP addresses: Users with an API profile can now be restricted to calling an API from a specific IP address.
  • Configuration is required for this feature.

Expand content packages to include Guidebooks: Administrators can now add Guidebooks to content packages. This gives you greater control over the content that your users can see.

Include all users in a user group: Administrators can now add all current and future users to a user group automatically with the new “Include all users” toggle.

Reset user passwords for SSO bypass users: Administrators can now reset the password for single sign-on users who are in the Bypass Users list.

Blueprint customization granularity enhancements: Previously, if an object was customized in your Visier tenant, that object would no longer receive any updates from Visier. Now, you can enable granular Blueprint inheritance to receive partial updates from Visier on your customized objects. For example, if you customize the tags on a Blueprint analysis, you will not receive updates from Visier on that analysis' tags, but will receive any other updates, such as changes to the analysis' list of topics.

  • Configuration is required for this feature.

Dynamic security by dimension enhancements: Administrators can now set up many-to-many security using dynamic security filters. You can list multiple user IDs in the Organization Head column of a data file, which enables you to provide data access to multiple users for the same population. This is useful if you have more than one user who should have access to the same population, such as two HR business partners who both need data access to the Sales and Product teams.

Increased prediction accuracy (Risk of Resignation): We’ve enhanced the Risk of Resignation model to increase the accuracy of predictions, resulting in a 15% increase in the mean lift score.

Download plan activity as CSV: You can now download the activity area within the planning grid as a CSV file for the current plan and all subplans.

Parameterized plan metrics: You can now enable parameterized plan metrics. These are metrics that contain parameters that point to the plan instance and scenario, which you can select directly from the Metric picker.

  • Configuration is required for this feature.

Subplanner headcount limit override: You can now allow subplanners to edit the Upper limit on headcount in the Headcount and Cost planning model.

  • Configuration is required for this feature.

Data model and query API enhancements: We made the following additions to the APIs:

  • You can now retrieve a list query of parameterized planning metrics.
  • You can now perform aggregation queries for more than one metric.
  • You can now retrieve aggregation queries as a CSV file.
  • You can now optionally retrieve optimized results from your query by enabling spare results. Sparse results only retrieve non-zero and non-null cells.

User management API enhancements: We made the following additions to the APIs:

  • You can now export security reports programmatically using Visier APIs, including the Application Logs, Data Security Report, profile assignments, and user permissions.
  • We added the email parameter to the “Add a user” endpoint. This allows you to add a user whose username is different from their email address.

Bug fixes

84127 - Employee photo upload: We added support for the “x-zip-compressed” file format when uploading employee photos.

95889 - Attribute path in View Details: We fixed an issue that prevented an attribute path, such as Hiring Manager > Full Name, from displaying in View Details. The correct path should now be shown in View Details.

96736 - Improved filter searching: When searching in the "Add focus" and "Add a filter" dialogs, you will now see the most accurate and relevant search results first.

Deprecation notices

Cancel a list of processing jobs API endpoint: With the Fall 2022 release, Visier stopped supporting this data and job handling API endpoint in favor of the new “Cancel a list of jobs” endpoint.

Cancel a pending receiving job API endpoint: With the Fall 2022 release, Visier stopped supporting this data and job handling API endpoint in favor of the new “Cancel a list of jobs” endpoint.

Patch updates

Jan 25 - Table visual cards: Some cards previously highlighted data from the last row or column of the table, which made for a confusing experience as users expected Overall values to be displayed. We’ve updated the card behavior to highlight and show data from the first row and column of the table because that’s where the Overall values are typically placed. This change does not affect tables that have time as a row or column. These cards will continue to highlight and show data from your selected time period or window.

Jan 4 - Data model and query APIs: We’ve added application/jsonlines to the Accept header in the “Query a list of details” endpoint. Previously, the application/json format incorrectly returned data in JSON Lines format instead of pure JSON. With this patch fix, you can now specify between application/json or application/jsonlines for your response. If you already set your Accept header to application/json but want your response in JSON Lines, please change your Accept header to application/jsonlines.

Nov 30 - Projector mode: We’ve removed projector mode from user preferences because custom color palettes cannot support high contrast variants.

Nov 30 - Reference line color: We’ve changed the default color of reference lines to gray. This update will not impact any existing captures or analysis visuals.

Nov 23 - Download data as spreadsheet: The download data as spreadsheet option will no longer be available if the export exceeds the maximum of 7.5 million cells. Decrease the amount of data displayed and try exporting again.

Visier People

Bug fixes

96328 - Help link: We fixed the default help URL in the Navigation, Notices & Links settings.

Organization

What's new

Contract type standardization: We’ve added two new standardization objects: Visier Employee Standardized Contract Type and Visier Employee Standardized Employment Type. These objects allow you to match contract and employment types in your organization to standardized names in your industry. Differentiate between permanent, temporary, student, contractor, and seasonal employees and split employees by those who are full time, part time, and contingent.

Visier standardized occupations: We’ve added two new standardization objects: Visier Employee Standardized Occupation and Visier Requisition Standardized Occupation. Automatically match your organization’s jobs with standardized names and hierarchies, providing richer insights while building a foundation for future analytic capabilities.

Bug fixes

94620 - Step-by-Step Guide to Retention Analysis: Previously, some quadrant visuals were comparing a trailing twelve months (TTM) metric against a non-TTM metric. If the non-TTM metric didn’t have data for the selected month, no data was shown. Now, quadrant visuals compare TTM metrics against TTM metrics so that data is available for the selected month.

Patch updates

Dec 7 - EEOC benchmarks: We’ve added EEOC benchmark values for 2019 and 2020. There were no major gaps in the datasets so approximations were not required.
