Create or Configure a Subject Member Alert

Learn how to create new subject member alerts or configure existing alerts.

Subject member alerts allow you to set an expected value for a specific subject member's attribute value. This is useful for keeping track of attributes and receiving notifications about any unexpected changes.

Example: Let's say you expect Employee-3 to have a Last Name value of Davis as of February 1, 2023. With subject member alerts, you can set this expectation, and if incoming data ever states a value other than Davis for Employee-3's Last Name after February 1, the data version will trigger the subject member alert and cause an issue to be created. If the subject member alert is critical, any value other than Davis will fail the data version and require an admin to review the data version.

Configure a subject member alert

Specify the exact conditions of the alert.

  1. In a project, on the navigation bar, click Validation > Alerts.
  2. Click Subject Member Alerts and select the alert to configure.
  3. Enable or disable the alert. If enabled, the alert will check every data load job for metric values outside the expected range.
  4. Optional: To change the subject associated with the alert, in Subject, select a new subject from the list.
  5. Optional: To change the attribute that the alert checks, in Property, select a new attribute from the list.
  6. Type the subject member ID of the member associated with the alert. In our previous example, you would type Employee-3 in this field.
  7. Type the expected value of the attribute. In our previous example, you would type Davis in this field.
  8. Select the date that the attribute should have the expected value. In our previous example, you would select February 1, 2023.
  9. If the alert should fail the data version, enable the Critical toggle. If the alert is triggered in data load jobs, the data version will fail and require an admin to review the data version.
  10. When finished, publish your project to production. For instructions, see Publish Project Changes.
