Overview
By default, when creating users, you have to manually enter the Employee ID for each user. However, you can have the Solution automatically fill in the Employee IDs for all users by changing the Employee ID lookup setting.
To change this setting in a project:
-
On the navigation bar, click Security > Users.
- Click User Setting in the upper-right corner of the User room.
- In the User Setting dialog, do one of the following:
- To manually enter the Employee ID for each user, select Manual Entry.
- To automatically retrieve the Employee ID for all users from your employee data, select Dynamic Lookup and set the lookup attribute (Username or Email address). For more information, see How dynamic lookup works.
- Click Continue.
Tip: If you have auto provisioning enabled, we recommend that you select Dynamic Lookup for the Employee ID setting. By having the Employee ID attribute filled in when the user account is created, the Solution can use the Employee ID to determine the user groups the user has been assigned and the data they can see.
How dynamic lookup works
To retrieve a user's Employee ID, the Solution scans the latest data version and compares the value of the selected lookup attribute with email addresses in the employee profile. When the values match, the Solution retrieves the corresponding Employee ID. When choosing a dynamic lookup attribute, select one whose values match the email addresses in employee profiles.
