Create or Configure a User Group Alert
Learn how to create new user group alerts or configure existing alerts.
User group alerts notify administrators about changes to user group members, allowing administrators to review changes to user access before going live with a data version. For more information about user groups, see User Groups.
Example: Let's say you have separate user groups for each location at your organization and these user groups dynamically add HRBPs based on their location information. There may be a HRBP that changes locations but continues to support the previous location and should not receive the same permissions as the HRBPs supporting the new location. When creating a new data version, user group alerts can check your user groups for added or removed users, and trigger an issue and fail the data version when a change occurs. You can then review the issue, make any necessary corrections, and create a new data version with the correct user group membership. This can help catch unwanted changes to user group membership.

Configure a user group alert
Specify the exact conditions of the alert.
- In a project, on the navigation bar, click Validation > Alerts.
- Click User group alerts and select the alert to configure.
- Enable or disable the alert. If enabled, the alert will check every data load job for changes to membership for the specified user group.
- Select the user group you want to use for the alert.
- Select a movement type.
- User added: Indicates that this alert should be triggered when someone is added to the user group.
- User removed: Indicates that this alert should be triggered when someone is removed from the user group.
- If the alert should fail the data version, enable the Critical toggle. If the alert is triggered in data load jobs, the data version will fail and require an admin to review the data version.
- When finished, publish your project to production. For instructions, see Publish Project Changes.
