Review Compensation Decisions

Review managers' proposed compensation decisions to assess budget impact and alignment with pay philosophy.

Tip: Watch this video to learn how to review compensation decisions.

Prerequisites

Before you can review compensation decisions, you must first close manager allocation during the Monitor Compensation Allocation stage.

Overview

During cycle setup, you defined a holdback budget. This held back a portion of the total budget that was not included in manager allocation. During the Review stage, this holdback budget gets brought back into the cycle so you can take any special actions necessary to adjust compensation decisions. Run an impact analysis and review the proposed decisions to ensure the budget has been spent appropriately and in accordance with your pay philosophy. Once finished, you can finalize the review.

Run an impact analysis

Before you make compensation adjustments, you can run an impact analysis. An impact analysis takes all of the compensation choices made throughout the cycle and incorporates them with historical data so you can analyze the impact of the proposed changes in the cycle.

With this analysis, you can review impacts on employee expectations, promotion equity, employee pay bands, and compensation ratio. This helps you get an overall sense of the proposed decisions before you make any adjustments.

To run an impact analysis, click Begin impact analysis.

Note: This may take a few moments to generate.

Review compensation decisions

Using the holdback budget, you have the opportunity to review the compensation decisions and make adjustments if needed.

Note: Ensure your adjustments are justified because you will need to provide a reason for your changes.

Give additional rewards

You can reward employees with additional out-of-budget rewards by uploading a CSV file containing the data for your pre-configured custom fields. You may want to give rewards to identify additional grants or awards for a pay type that is outside of the budget and recommendations. For example, an additional one-time spot bonus, a holiday bonus, or an extra share grant. Instead of managers having to make adjustments to identify recipients and amounts in their tasks, uploading an additional rewards file allows for the bulk uploading of a list in the review stage. These additional amounts will appear on the pay letter for employees and can be called out for communication.

Note:

  • Max file size is 25MB.
  • Only CSV file type is supported.
  • This data is captured as part of custom fields, which need to be pre-configured in order to add the data. Please contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) for assistance.

To give additional awards:

  1. Click Download template.

  2. Fill in the template with your data.

Note: The data you provide must be in numeric format and in the employee's local currency.

  3. Click Upload file.
  4. Drag and drop or choose file to upload.
  5. Click Upload.
  6. Review uploaded data.
  7. Click Add data to cycle.
