Overview

The Gregorian calendar is Visier's default calendar. This defines one year as 365 days over 12 months with a leap year every four years. A business calendar represents your organization's definition of a year. Upload a business calendar to define a calendar other than the common Gregorian calendar, such as fiscal, retail, release schedule, or other calendars. Visier supports many custom calendar types, including 13-month calendars, 4-4-5 calendars, and 52-53 week calendars.

With a custom calendar, your analysis is more accurate to your business. For example, to find out how many people your organization lost last year, Visier takes into account your business calendar's definition of when a year starts and ends, such as starting on February 1 and ending on January 31.

Note: A tenant may have one active calendar at a time. If you upload a custom business calendar, it overrides the default Gregorian calendar.

Additionally, you can use a business calendar to customize the time labels in the Time picker; for example, instead of Q1, you can set the label to FY24Q1. If you're using the default Gregorian calendar, you must create a custom calendar to change the labels.

Create a business calendar

To set up your business calendar, prepare a CSV file with your calendar details. For more information about the required columns, what to include, and how to format the CSV file, see Business Calendar Requirements. Do not change the CSV file's column headers because they validate against the expected schema.

You can also download a reference list of required columns and definitions from Studio. This file is for reference only and is not a template that you can populate with data.

  1. In a project, on the navigation bar, click Data > Business Calendar.
  2. Click Download Schema.

Upload a business calendar

Once your business calendar file is ready, you can upload it in a project. Business calendars are loaded after a new data version is generated.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • If there isn't a business calendar already, click Select File.
    • If you're updating an existing business calendar, click Replace.
  3. In the Upload Calendar dialog, click Browse.
  4. Select the business calendar you created.
  5. Click Upload.
  6. Generate a data version to load the business calendar. For more information, see Run a Job.
