Overview

The Gregorian calendar is Visier's default calendar. This defines one year as 365 days over 12 months with a leap year every four years. A business calendar represents your organization's definition of a year. Upload a business calendar to define a calendar other than the common Gregorian calendar, such as fiscal, retail, release schedule, or other calendars. Visier supports many custom calendar types, including 13-month calendars, 4-4-5 calendars, and 52-53 week calendars.

With a custom calendar, your analysis is more accurate to your business. For example, to find out how many people your organization lost last year, Visier takes into account your business calendar's definition of when a year starts and ends, such as starting on February 1 and ending on January 31.

Note: A tenant may have one active calendar at a time. If you upload a custom business calendar, it overrides the default Gregorian calendar.

Additionally, you can use a business calendar to customize the time labels in the time picker; for example, instead of Q1, you can set the label to FY24Q1. For more information about labels, see Business Calendar Requirements.

Metrics that handle time, such as time between calculations, use the uploaded business calendar unless gregorian is specified in the formula. Many of Visier's out-of-the-box metrics use gregorian in the formula; to use your business calendar instead, remove gregorian from the metric formula.

Business calendars are defined at a daily granularity, meaning that each day in your custom calendar is accounted for. If your business calendar is close to the end of its uploaded data, make sure you replace the business calendar in Visier with new dates going into the future. We recommend that you send as many years of calendar data as possible.
